The Perfect Break
England boasts a diverse accommodation landscape with over a thousand options, ranging from traditional hotels and apartments to cosy guesthouses and unique AirBnBs, ensuring visitors a varied and personalised stay.
Whenever I post hotels on my socials, I get lots of messages asking for the names of hotels. I love finding cute spaces to spend the night in. So, by popular demand, I bring you my favourite 2024 top ten stunning hotels in England for a perfect getaway. My ranking is based on the overall experience – room, food, service, and boujeeness vibes.
ONE
Nyx Hotel London Holborn
NYX Hotel London Holborn by Leonardo Hotels ranks number one on my list of great hotels. Located in Holborn, just a short 4-minute walking distance from Holborn Station, it has a big bright neon NYX sign on the building, so you can’t miss it.
When you walk into this 5-star hotel, you will be greeted by good vibes, warm hospitality, and fancy lights setting the mood. Its quirky interior designs and objects make it a visually appealing entrance. The reception is located within the same space, with speedy check-in and, if you’re lucky, a complimentary welcome drink voucher and sweets on arrival.
I really liked the hallway on the way to my room, with oversized frames and a dark design with lighting. The room itself is spacious and clean and gives an upscale vibe. You’ll find a minibar with drinks and complimentary snacks in your room. The bed is super comfy, and the room is warm, making it a perfect stay.
If you are feeling hungry or thirsty, look no further. The bar and restaurant downstairs serve delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner at reasonable prices. I tried their food selection, including burgers, fries, mac and cheese, and chicken wings, which were *chef-kissed*. If you’re feeling lazy, room service is available. Great cocktails are also available.
A lovely spa and wellness centre is included in your room rate. You can enjoy the steam room, sauna room, and swimming pool free of charge! There is also a fitness centre for those feeling guilty about overindulging at the restaurant.
Check-in is from 3 pm, and check-out is until 11 am. Hotel rates vary often, but I paid just under £180 for a one-night stay. It’s a very well-deserving number-one spot. CHECK PRICES.
TWO
Nhow London Hotel
Nhow London Hotel sits at number 2 in my hotel rankings. Located in Islington, a 12-minute walk from either Old Street Station or Angel Station, you’ll find a bright coloured ‘n’ on the building, making it easier to recognise this 4-star hotel. As you enter the hotel, your eyes wander as a colourful display of quirky objects fills the space. The reception is near the entrance, and check-in is easy and quick.
Walking through the quirky corridors to your room is so refreshing. The doors of each room are bold and colourful; it’s fantastic. Inside, the room is spacious and clean, with a unique interior.
Depending on your room, you’ll find a mini bar, snacks inside, and plenty of seating options. I opted for the nhow suite room, which had a sofa, a chair, and an excellent long view from the triangle-shaped building. The facilities in the room were spot on, and the bed was super comfy; I slept like a baby. Other facilities are available within the hotel, such as a fitness centre.
Downstairs, you’ll find a quirky bar and yummy food. The bar is cheerful, and the staff is friendly. A delicious breakfast buffet is served in the lobby or available for room service. For dinner, you can choose from delicious European and International cuisine.
Check-in is from 3 pm, and check-out is until noon. I stayed at this hotel because the room had so many cool backgrounds for a photo shoot. Hotel rooms typically vary depending on the time of year, but for my one-night stay in May, I paid £155. This place was dope! CHECK PRICES.
THREE
The Exhibitionist Hotel
The Exhibitionist Hotel ranks at number 3 in my list of top hotels. Located in South Kensington, a 7-minute walk from Gloucester Road Station, this clean-cut boutique hotel is opposite the National History Museum. This 5-star hotel will impress you on entry as you’ll find combined original designs and contemporary finishes, including bespoke furnishings. It has eight galleries with frequently changing artwork. Are you excited already?
The staff are super friendly, and check-in is pretty simple. On the way to your room, you’ll enter a life decorated with fake grass – quirky. When I stayed, I booked the Trash City Suite, which had excellent features, including a ‘Trash City’ light, trash-designed pillows, a balcony/terrace, a shower and bath, and a big, comfy bed.
I opted for room service breakfast to enjoy my meal on the terrace, which had a pretty cool vibe. Some of the other suites have indoor hot tubs and outside TVs and are double the size of the Trash City Suite. They look… wow!
This excellent hotel offers continental breakfast, Italian-inspired snacks, and cute cocktails. They don’t serve dinner, but many eateries are nearby; you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Check-in is from 3 pm, and check-out is before noon. The quirkiness of the room caught my attention, and it didn’t disappoint. Prices vary depending on the time of the year, but when I stayed at the Exhibitionist Hotel, I paid £158 for a one-night stay. It’s not bad pricing for a posh area. CHECK PRICES.
FOUR
K West Hotel & Spa
Ranking in a substantial number 4 spot is K West Hotel & Spa. Located in Shepherd’s Bush, just a 5-minute walk from Shepherd’s Bush Underground and overground stations and Westfield London shopping centre, you’ll see the award-winning K West Hotel & Spa. You’ll be walking into warm welcomes and lively vibes on arrival. Checking in is easy, also.
I opted for the Studio Room, which was super spacious and pretty. It had a pretty cool colourful feature wall and velvet sofas. The bathroom was clean, and the whole set-up was a vibe. The bed was also big enough to fit at least four people, and the shower was clean.
K West Hotel also has a restaurant serving a delicious variety of food all day, with room service available. I definitely recommend checking out the award-winning spa, which costs an additional £25; you can pre-book in advance. A gym is also open.
Check-in is from 11 a.m., and check-out is until 11 a.m. During my visit, I spent £160 for a one-night stay in the Studio Room.
*Please note this hotel is under a 45 million pound renovation and will reopen in mid-2025. I’ll be back with updates to see if this hotel has crawled further up the Top 10 Hotels list with its fresh revamp.
FIVE
Crazy Bear Hotel Beaconsfield
Rolling in at number 5 is Crazy Bear Hotel, located in Beaconsfield. It’s a 4-minute drive from Beaconsfield Station. You’ll be welcome to a classy 5-star space with friendly staff awaiting your super simple check-in. This Instagramable space will allow you to take pics right, left, and centre.
When I stayed, I booked the Suite, which included breakfast in the price. The room was luxurious, with 80% red velvet textures and gold and black designs. It was loud, colourful, and unique to my other hotel experiences. It really was something else.
In the centre of the room was a big rose gold copper bath. You set the tub with water flowing from the ceiling! This Crazy Bear Hotel used innovation to wow; it was truly unforgettable. This room also had a patio, which was convenient for those who like to damage their lungs.
They have excellent facilities, like spa baths, a gym, Thai massages, and an outdoor pool—all super impressive. You can order room service 24/7 from its two restaurants, which serve yummy foods, including a scrumptious breakfast. Enjoy the big bed – you’ll get a good night’s sleep.
Check-in times are from 4 pm, and check-out is until 11 am. It really has it all this hotel, which is why it’s a worthy top 5 choice. However, I will say that although I’ve rated it at number 5, due to the price and check-in time, it’s ranked slightly lower. The check-in time is 4 pm.
I spent £349 for a one-night stay in the suite room at the time; however, looking at prices now, I see the rates are around £499. If I took the room rates and check-in time out of the mix, I would rank this place at number 3. CHECK PRICES.
SIX
Hotel Du Vin Newcastle
Ranking at number 6 is Hotel Du Vin, situated in Newcastle. Located just an 8-minute drive from Newcastle Station, you’ll find this stunning restored 4-star Edwardian hotel. It’s a treat! On arrival at the hotel, you’ll be warmly welcomed by staff eager to get you settled. I liked the décor and vibes of this space, which gives a charming, stylish, luxurious, rustic feel.
There are multiple rooms to choose from, including rooms with a view of the iconic Millennium Bridge. I decided on the Suite Room, which was super spacious. It had stairs leading to the bathroom and two cute baths facing forward on an indoor balcony. The shower pressure was perfect, and soaking in the bathtub was just a treat. The bed was huge, with nice bedding and comfy sofas to relax on. I also loved the open space; it felt like home.
Bistro Du Vin offers a relaxed and intimate breakfast, lunch, and dinner setting. It offers an A la carte menu and a variety of other delicious menu items. Room service is available for those like me who prefer to stuff our faces in peace.
Check-in is from 11 am, and check-out is from 11 am. The studio room cost me £175 for a one-night stay. I chose this space for winter relaxation; it was just heaven. Delicious food, great views, perfect amenities, and friendly staff make this hotel stand out as number 6 on my top 10 hotels list. CHECK PRICES.
SEVEN
Seclusion In The Dome
Locked in at number 7 is Seclusion In The Dome. Located in Hatfield and just a 7-minute drive from Hatfield Station, The Dome provides the perfect secluded getaway for those seeking a recharge. This stay is available via Airbnb.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by the friendly host Neil, who had accepted my late last-minute booking. The Dome is at the back of the garden, partially secluded in a beautiful, well-maintained garden. You’ll see an impressive Michelangelo statue placed in the garden; I was super wowed.
The beautiful glass Dome has curtains for privacy, but with it open, the light comes through perfectly, making it a perfect setting. This cute spot has a poster bed inside and a sink with amenities. A chair, table, and little ornaments are in the room, giving it a rustic feel. I loved the vibe of this space, feeling super-secluded inside. Surprisingly, it’s super soundproof. I tried and tested it with a music speaker.
Outside The Dome is a bench to enjoy your meal or chill. It’s self-catering, so bring food or order from nearby eateries. Then there’s the hot tub for an additional £35. You have to let Neil know at the time of your booking that you’d like access to it, as it takes hours to heat up. Although we used it for hours, it was still hot when we got out. The room also has bath robes, which are perfect for before/after using the hot tub.
Check-in is from 1 pm, and check-out is until 11 am. This last-minute gem cost me £147 + £35 for a one-night stay with hot tub access. I chose this space for a little getaway birthday present, and it didn’t disappoint. Some Airbnbs are excellent alternatives for a unique experience. CHECK PRICES.
EIGHT
Sunborn London Yacht Hotel
Charting at number 8 is Sunborn London Yacht Hotel. Located on Royal Victoria Dock, this 4-star hotel welcomes you onboard its floating cool yacht. Accessible by a DLR tram, this location is conveniently near main roads and shops despite being on water. The exterior is impressive and has a boujee feel upon arrival. It gives an up-scale vibe, although it’s a 4-star hotel.
Checking in is super speedy, and friendly staff assist you. My stay in the classic king room with a river view impressed me. I questioned the quality of the room compared to its price, but to my surprise, the room exceeded my expectations. The room looked polished and spotless, and I liked its overall vibe.
I chose to party instead of an evening meal, but based on other reviews, most guests seemed to enjoy the food. Recovering from the night before, I also decided to skip breakfast. Despite this, this hotel still stood out for me. It’s great for a very peaceful getaway—perfect for getting away from your kids or spouse, etc. I found it a bit isolating; however, I really enjoyed my stay.
Check-in time is from 3 pm, and check-out is until 11 am. Also, as a heads up, they charge £40 for incidentals daily, which will be refunded when you check out. Prices for rooms vary depending on the time of year and room choice, but at the time of my stay in January, my room cost me £140 for a 1-night stay. CHECK PRICES.
NINE
Westleigh
Making a mark at number 9 is Westleigh, a 5-star mansion home in Ashtead. Because of its location, driving to it or taking an Uber is required. The hosts, Dave and Jane, and their little dog Alfie will greet you on arrival. The hosts were super friendly and chatty and gave me a tour of my room upstairs, which was superb.
The bed is super comfortable, and the décor of the room feels homely. However, the main attraction is the en-suite bathroom, which has a super gorgeous shower and a nice deep bath facing towards the big window showcasing the garden, giving it a serene vibe. I spent my morning soaking in the tub in peace with this stunning view; it really was special.
The room as a whole is fantastic and genuinely is a home away from home. You also have access to the garden, which is a gorgeous big area.
Breakfast is served for a small fee, which I didn’t add on, but I regretted it when I smelled it in the morning. Based on other reviews, the breakfast is excellent. The area is a little secluded, so I recommend purchasing snacks and bits before your arrival. Dinner can be easily ordered on popular food apps.
Check-in is from 3 pm, and check-out is until 11 am. I chose this space because of the incredible views, value for money, and the bathroom with the garden view. I was not disappointed. Hotel prices vary, but I forked out £137 for a one-night stay. CHECK PRICES.
TEN
The Crown Inn
Lastly, and respectably at number 10 in my top 10 hotels list, is The Crown Inn, located in Bromley. This 4-star pub-hotel is a 3-minute drive from Chislehurst Station and brings good vibes from arrival.
I was a bit sceptical as I had preconceived ideas that pub hotels were loud, boozy, and all the sorts; however, I was pleasantly surprised at how homely and cosy it felt and the lack of noise coming into the room.
I actually said wow, when I walked into my boutique room, I was just pleasantly surprised by how pretty and cosy it looked. The bathroom was fabulous, with bath robes, a cool shower, and a big bath inviting you to relax. There’s a balcony for you to enjoy with road views and greenery, which is especially lovely in summer. I must say, the room as a whole felt very upscale.
The advantage of being upstairs from a pub is that food and drinks are right there. The bar serves a delicious menu, including roast dinner on Sunday and reasonably priced drinks, making it an excellent spot to hang out from your room. Breakfast is included in the price. Let me say that the avocado, egg, and sausage on sourdough bread, served with a big cup of orange juice, was just a chef’s kiss.
Check-in is from 2 pm, and check-out is at 11 am. I booked this space because I needed to be in the area and was pretty impressed. I chose a Luxury Double Room, which cost £152 for a one-night stay, including breakfast. CHECK PRICES.
