Language & Currency In Vietnam
Language: Vietnamese is the official language of Vietnam, and it has a unique musical vibe thanks to its six tones. One word can have totally different meanings depending on how you say it! While English is common in touristy areas, learning a few local phrases will definitely earn you some smiles, but Google Translate is always available to save the day, too.
Currency: Vietnam uses the Vietnamese Dong (VND), and trust me, you’ll feel like a millionaire—100,000 VND is only about $4 USD! Cash is king here, especially for street food, markets, and small shops, so always keep some on hand. ATMs are everywhere, and big cities accept cards, but for local spots, it’s all about the dong!
Hanoi
If Vietnam had a heartbeat, it would be Hanoi—loud, lively, and full of flavour! Whether you’re here for the history, the energy, or the incredible food, Hanoi is a must on your Vietnam bucket list itinerary. As Vietnam’s capital, it definitely deserves a stop on your adventure.
Hanoi is fast-paced and buzzing, so expect to dodge scooters, embrace a little chaos (in the best way possible), and experience a city that truly never sleeps. Plus, it’s the perfect gateway to other epic destinations like Sapa, Ninh Binh, and Ha Long Bay!

Don’t miss Incense Village from Hanoi, where you can see how incense is made and see photo opportunities!
