Language & Currency In Thailand

Language: In Thailand, you’ll hear Thai everywhere you go! It’s the official language and the main way people communicate, whether in government offices, schools, or businesses.

Currency: Regarding money, the Thai Baht (THB) is king. Each Baht is divided into smaller units called satang. While you can find ATMs scattered across the island, cash is still the go-to for most locals. So, make sure to keep some Baht handy for your adventures!

Bangkok

Bangkok is a city that never sleeps. With its golden temples shining in the sun, chaotic street markets where the smell of sizzling pad thai fills the air, and neon-lit nightlife, there’s always something happening. You could spend the morning exploring the peaceful grounds of the Grand Palace and, by night, be zipping through the streets in a tuk-tuk on your way to a rooftop bar.

Bangkok is the perfect starting base for your travels. As a central hub with excellent network links to other parts of Thailand, Bangkok is usually the first stop for many visitors. You’ll likely end up at the famous Khao San Road, popular among travellers for its street food, markets, nightlife, ping-pong, and ladyboy shows. Bangkok is nonstop excitement—you’ll have to see it to believe it!

Places To Stay In Bangkok

Sukhumvit. Sukhumvit is Bangkok’s bustling district famous for its vibrant nightlife, endless shopping malls, and diverse dining options. Staying in Sukhumvit puts you right in the middle of the action. Explore the lively nightlife on Soi Cowboy or hop on the Asok Skytrain for quick and convenient transportation around the city.

Recommends: If you want luxury, stay at the Villa Deva Resort & Hotel, where you can enjoy a peaceful getaway away from the noise with massages and pampering all day. I recommend Revolution Khoa San for backpackers, as it’s at the heart of the action.

Old City (Rattanakosin). Step into Bangkok’s past in the Old City, also known as Rattanakosin. This district is the city’s historical and cultural heart, offering a more relaxed vibe than bustling Sukhumvit. Here, you can explore iconic landmarks like Wat Phra Kaew and soak up the vibrant street life around Khao San Road.

Recommends: If you’re looking for upscale stays, check out Sala Rattanakosin. It offers an epic stay along the river with views of Wat Arun; wow!
