ASIA UNCOVERED: Your Ultimate Guide To The Beautiful Far East

Have a bucket list of cool things you MUST see in Asia? I’m here for it. Whether you’ve mapped out a cool backpacking escape or you’re just here for the tease, Asia is a world like no other.

Southeast Asia is one of my favourite regions. It combines authenticity, delicious food, smiles, spirituality, and jaw-dropping scenery. I fell in love with Asia on my first trip away from home without my family. Initially, I planned a two-week trip to Thailand, but I stayed for eight months in total! So, be careful—or don’t—you might never return!

How Many Countries Are In Asia?

Asia is home to over 4.6 million people, roughly 60% of the population! It has the largest land area and population, making it the largest continent on Earth. So, just how many countries are actually in Asia?

The continent includes 48 countries and three other territories: Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Some countries also have dual continents or are still being debated about where they belong. For example, a popular hotspot, Dubai (UAE), is classified as the Middle East but also belongs to Asia.

How Many Countries Will Make It On Your Bucket List?

I haven’t been everywhere in Asia yet, but it’s on my list! It’s hard to pick my favourite so far, as they all have been stunning. However, I am biased toward Thailand, as I lived there for eight months.

Also, Bali, Indonesia, is just an absolute dream! Bali is the definition of a runaway country, the perfect destination if you want to run away from the UK permanently. I could stay there forever!

When’s The Best Time To Visit Asia?

Asia’s peak is the dry season, from October to May, or a few months on each side. However, it’s wise to consider the monsoon season when planning your adventures. The monsoon is a period of heavy rainfall with strong winds that occurs typically during June and September.

That being said, those who don’t mind the rainier months might find it the perfect time to visit during these times as it’s great for finding cheaper flights and hotels. Also, just imagine all the boujee hotels that will be cheaper during these months! I’m sooo here for it.

Overall, Asia welcomes travellers with open arms year-round, offering many wonders to explore regardless of the season. From pristine beaches and lush jungles to stunning temples and bustling markets, there’s always something captivating to experience, no matter the weather.

What To Expect When Visiting Asia

While it might not be as famous as other travel hotspots, adventurous souls are increasingly picking these off-the-beaten-tracks. While fully exploring every nook and cranny might take a lifetime, many travellers like me kick off their journey in Southeast Asia. Backpackers and solo travellers flock to popular, cheaper destinations such as Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the tropical paradise of Indonesia, typically Bali. But don’t be fooled; luxury hideaways are also in high demand. In places like Bali, you’ll find stunning gems for boujee-budget prices. A bargain in paradise? What a treat.
